GAS VS ELECTRIC GOLF CART

GAS OR ELECTRIC?

By far, the most frequent question we get here would be ‘Is Gas or Electric better’. And the answer is, neither! It all comes down to what your needs and applications will be.

Here is a quick rundown on some of the Pros and cons to each powertrain option.

GAS CARTS:

Pros:

Range: On most Gas carts, your fuel tank is around five gallons, which typically gets you between 150-180 miles on a single tank! a HUGE benifit to having a gas cart is not having to worry about constant charging, and when you do run low on gas, simply refill anf you’re off again!

Low end power/torque: Although electric carts have come a long way with speed and power, if you need a workhorse or plan to do any towing or pulling with your cart, gas will always be the better choice as you don’t have to worry about wearing down the battery. Also, gas carts hold up better under heavy loads than electric.

Realiability: While each cart is different, Gas carts tend to hold up longer due to being built on tried and true platforms that have been around for years. For example, EZGO uses a Kawasaki engine for their gas vehicles which has been used since 2008 and is extremely reliable with very few issues. On average, we see fewer warranty claims on Gas carts than Electric.

Cons:

Noise and vibration: Modern gas carts are much quieter than older models, but they do still make some noise unlike electric carts which are virtually silent. You will have some mild vibration when operating a gas cart as well.

Fewer Gas options: Electric power appears to be the future, and most cart manufacturers these days are putting all their effort into electric development. While there are some great Gas cart options, there are
